Engineered Fiber Matrix
ProMatrix™ EFM™
Stronger Hydraulic Erosion Control Without Overcomplicating the Application
Conventional hydraulic mulch can support germination on lower-risk
sites, but longer slopes, heavier rainfall, and greater erosion exposure
often require a stronger matrix. ProMatrix™ Engineered Fiber Matrix™
provides enhanced surface protection while supporting efficient loading,
application, and vegetation establishment.
ProMatrix EFM is designed for projects that need more erosion-control
performance than standard mulch, without requiring the highest-level
hydraulic system.
Where ProMatrix EFM Fits
ProMatrix is used where site conditions exceed the performance range of
basic cellulose or wood-fiber mulch, but do not require the full
capabilities of a high-performance flexible growth medium.
Engineered for Better Surface Performance
ProMatrix combines refined wood fibers, interlocking fibers, mineral
activators, water-management components, and soil-bonding technology to
create a more stable erosion-control matrix.
Create a Cohesive Surface Matrix
The engineered fiber blend forms a continuous layer that helps
resist rainfall impact, shallow runoff, seed movement, and soil
displacement during establishment.
- Improved surface coverage
- Stronger soil contact
- Helps reduce rilling
- Protects seed and exposed soil
Support Germination and Root Development
ProMatrix helps retain moisture, moderate surface conditions,
and keep seed and amendments close to the prepared soil surface.
- Supports moisture retention
- Encourages uniform germination
- Maintains seed-to-soil contact
- Supports vegetation through the matrix
How ProMatrix Works
ProMatrix is hydraulically applied as a uniform slurry over prepared
soil. As the application settles and cures, the fibers interlock and
create a porous, erosion-resistant surface layer.
01
Engineered Fiber Blend
Refined wood and interlocking fibers form the primary
protective structure.
02
Soil-Bonding Components
Mineral activators and naturally derived components improve
cohesion and surface contact.
03
Moisture Management
Water-management materials help retain useful moisture
around seed during establishment.
04
Prepared Soil
Proper grading, testing, seed selection, and soil preparation
create the foundation for system performance.
Why the Step Up From Standard Mulch Matters
Basic hydraulic mulch may provide adequate seedbed protection on flatter
or lower-risk sites. ProMatrix adds a stronger matrix for projects where
rainfall exposure, slope length, or runoff creates greater risk.
01
Enhanced Erosion Resistance
The interlocking matrix provides stronger surface protection
than loose or lightly bonded mulch.
02
Improved Surface Contact
Hydraulic placement conforms to irregular soil surfaces and
helps reduce exposed voids.
03
Efficient Tank Loading
The formulation is designed to support practical mixing,
loading, and application productivity.
04
Balanced Performance
ProMatrix provides a practical middle ground between basic
hydraulic mulch and higher-performance flexible growth media.
Application Guidance
ProMatrix should be applied over properly prepared soil using suitable
hydraulic equipment, water volume, loading procedures, mixing sequence,
and manufacturer-recommended application rates.
Soil testing, seed, fertilizer, amendments, slope geometry, rainfall
exposure, runoff conditions, and vegetation goals should be coordinated
before installation.
Concentrated flow areas, channels, outlets, steep transitions, or sites
with severe hydraulic exposure may require Flexterra HP-FGM, a turf
reinforcement mat, or another higher-performance system.
Important:
Final product selection and application rates should be based on
project-specific conditions, tested performance data, manufacturer
guidance, and the approved project specifications.
Practical Erosion-Control Performance
Designed for Sites That Need More Than Basic Mulch
ProMatrix provides an efficient hydraulic option for sites where
erosion exposure, slope geometry, and vegetation establishment
require a stronger, more cohesive surface treatment.
01
Roadway Slopes
Protect cuts, fills, medians, shoulders, and transportation
embankments exposed to rainfall and runoff.
02
Commercial Development
Stabilize disturbed slopes and open areas during grading,
infrastructure installation, and final closeout.
03
Stormwater Facilities
Protect pond slopes, berms, swales, and surrounding disturbed
areas while vegetation develops.
04
Utility Corridors
Stabilize pipeline, transmission, and infrastructure corridors
across broad disturbed areas.
05
Large Disturbed Areas
Apply seed and erosion protection efficiently across broad sites
with limited labor or access.
06
Reclamation and Restoration
Support vegetation establishment where disturbed substrates
require stronger hydraulic protection than standard mulch.
Hydraulic Mulch vs. ProMatrix vs. Flexterra
The correct system depends on slope, rainfall exposure, runoff, access,
establishment period, and the consequences of erosion failure.
Product selection matters:
The lowest-cost hydraulic product is not always the lowest-cost project
solution. Repair, reseeding, cleanup, and remobilization can outweigh
the initial material difference.
Soil Building + Erosion Protection
Pair ProMatrix With ProGanics® BSM™
Where poor soil conditions limit vegetation, ProMatrix can be paired
with ProGanics BSM to address both the growing environment and the
exposed surface.
ProGanics BSM improves depleted soil conditions, while ProMatrix
provides enhanced erosion control during establishment.
01
Evaluate the Soil
Identify organic matter, pH, nutrient, salt, biological, and
physical limitations.
02
Build the Growing Environment
Apply ProGanics BSM and prescribed amendments to improve the
depleted substrate.
03
Protect the Surface
Apply ProMatrix EFM to protect seed and soil while vegetation
establishes.
