High-Performance Flexible Growth Medium

Flexterra® HP-FGM™

High-Performance Hydraulic Erosion Control for Demanding Slopes and Channels

Steep slopes, long slope lengths, intense rainfall, and difficult access
can quickly exceed the capabilities of conventional hydraulic mulch.
Flexterra® High Performance-Flexible Growth Medium™ forms a continuous,
flexible, erosion-resistant matrix that protects seed and soil while
supporting rapid vegetation establishment.

Flexterra HP-FGM is designed for demanding sites where erosion
protection, moisture management, surface bonding, and vegetation
establishment must work together from the first application.

Where Flexterra HP-FGM Fits

Flexterra is used where project conditions require more than basic
hydraulic mulch or lower-performing fiber matrices. It is suited to
steep, highly exposed, difficult-access, and time-sensitive sites where
soil loss could lead to repair work, delayed stabilization, or compliance
concerns.

Designed for steep slopes, long slope lengths, and demanding rainfall exposure
Forms a continuous, flexible matrix that bonds directly to prepared soil
Supports rapid germination, moisture retention, and vegetation establishment
Hydraulically applied across large, remote, or difficult-to-access areas

More Than Mulch. A High-Performance Growth Medium.

Flexterra combines engineered fibers, interlocking matrix structure,
soil-bonding components, and water-management technology to provide
erosion protection and create favorable conditions for vegetation.

Surface Protection

Bond Seed and Soil Together

The applied matrix conforms to the soil surface, fills small
irregularities, and creates continuous contact that helps resist
rainfall impact and shallow runoff.

  • Continuous surface coverage
  • Strong soil bonding
  • Protects seed from displacement
  • Helps reduce rilling and surface erosion
Vegetation Establishment

Create a Productive Seedbed Environment

The flexible matrix helps retain useful moisture, moderate
surface conditions, and maintain close contact among seed,
soil, fibers, and amendments.

  • Supports moisture retention
  • Promotes rapid germination
  • Supports root development
  • Allows vegetation to grow through the matrix

How Flexterra Works

Flexterra is hydraulically applied over a prepared soil surface. Once
applied, the system forms a porous, flexible, erosion-resistant blanket
that remains in close contact with the soil while vegetation develops.

01

Engineered Fiber Matrix

Interlocking fibers create a continuous protective layer
across the prepared surface.

02

Moisture Management

Water-management components help retain moisture around seed
during the critical establishment period.

03

Seed and Amendments

Seed, fertilizer, and prescribed amendments are held close
to the soil surface for consistent establishment.

04

Prepared Soil

Proper grading, soil preparation, testing, and amendment
selection create the foundation for performance.

Why High-Performance Hydraulic Protection Matters

Conventional hydraulic mulch is primarily intended to support seed
germination. Flexterra adds a higher level of erosion resistance for
sites where rainfall and runoff can remove soil before vegetation has
time to mature.

01

Immediate Surface Protection

The matrix begins protecting seed and soil as soon as the
application is completed and cured.

02

Flexible Soil Contact

The hydraulic application conforms to surface contours and
maintains contact across irregular terrain.

03

Rapid Vegetation Response

Moisture management and close seed-to-soil contact support
fast, consistent establishment.

04

Efficient Application

Hydraulic placement reaches broad, steep, and difficult
areas without requiring blanket installation crews.

Application Guidance

Flexterra HP-FGM should be installed over a properly prepared soil
surface using suitable hydraulic equipment, water volume, loading
procedures, mixing sequence, nozzle technique, and specified application
rates.

Soil testing, seed selection, fertilizer, amendments, and application
rate should be coordinated with slope geometry, rainfall exposure,
runoff conditions, vegetation goals, and project specifications.

Areas of concentrated flow, transitions, outlets, channel bottoms,
severe scour potential, or hydraulic conditions beyond the tested
capabilities of the system may require additional reinforcement or a
different erosion-control solution.

Important:

Final product selection and application rates should be confirmed using
project-specific site conditions, tested performance data, manufacturer
guidance, hydraulic calculations, and the approved project specifications.

When conventional mulch is not enough, surface protection matters.

Flexterra HP-FGM helps protect seed and soil on demanding sites while
creating the conditions needed for vegetation to establish.

Demanding Site Conditions

High-Performance Protection Across Disturbed Sites

Flexterra is designed for sites where erosion exposure,
constructability, slope geometry, and vegetation establishment must
be addressed through one coordinated hydraulic application.

01

Roadway Slopes

Protect long cuts, fills, shoulders, interchanges, and
transportation embankments exposed to heavy rainfall.

02

Landfills and Reclamation

Stabilize large disturbed areas where access, slope length,
soil quality, and rapid establishment create challenges.

03

Stormwater Facilities

Protect pond slopes, berms, swales, and drainage areas during
vegetation establishment.

04

Utility Corridors

Stabilize pipeline, transmission, and infrastructure corridors
across broad or inaccessible terrain.

05

Channels and Drainageways

Support vegetation and surface protection where hydraulic
exposure remains within tested system capabilities.

06

Commercial Development

Protect disturbed slopes and open areas during site development,
infrastructure installation, and final stabilization.

Hydraulic Mulch vs. Flexterra HP-FGM

The correct product depends on slope, rainfall exposure, runoff,
establishment period, access, and the level of erosion protection the
site requires.

Project Consideration
Conventional Hydraulic Mulch
Flexterra HP-FGM
Primary role
Seedbed cover and moisture retention
Vegetation establishment and high-performance erosion control
Surface bonding
Limited or tackifier-dependent
Engineered flexible matrix bonds to soil
Slope exposure
Lower-risk and moderate conditions
Steeper and more demanding conditions
Rainfall resistance
Basic protection during establishment
Higher resistance to rainfall impact and surface runoff
Matrix continuity
Loose or lightly bonded fiber cover
Continuous, porous, flexible protective layer
Typical use
General seeding and lower-risk stabilization
High-risk slopes and demanding infrastructure sites

Selection matters:

A lower-cost mulch can become the expensive choice if the site requires
repair, reseeding, sediment cleanup, or repeated mobilization after a
rainfall event.

Soil Building + Surface Protection

Pair Flexterra With ProGanics® BSM™

Where the existing soil cannot support sustainable vegetation,
