TenCate Mirafi Geosynthetics MPV, MPG (PGM-G), and MPG4 (PGM-G4) Paving Fabrics

Mirafi® MPV Nonwoven Asphalt Overlay Fabric

Mirafi® MPV nonwoven asphalt overlay fabric forms a membrane that minimizes surface water from penetrating pavement systems and provides a stress relief interlayer which inhibits the growth of reflective cracks. Produced from polypropylene staple fibers, Mirafi® MPV is heat-set to provide a waterproofing barrier.

Mirafi® MPV nonwoven asphalt overlay fabric functions for sealing, stress relief, and adhesive bonding.

Mirafi® MPV-Series prevents penetration of surface water into sub-grade soil. Its stress-relieving interface retards reflective cracking and improves fatigue resistance of new overlay. The MPV nonwoven asphalt overlay fabric is well-suited for different grades of tack coat and is climate-friendly.

Highlights

  • Penetration – Prevents penetration of surface water into the subgrade
  • Stress Relief – Contains a stress-relieving interface that retards reflective cracking
  • Fatigue Resistance – Improves fatigue resistance of new overlays
  • Weight – Comes in different weights for varying degrees of maintenance needs
  • Tack Coat – Well suited for different grades of tack coat, including polymer-modified tack coats
  • Weather – Can be used in a wide range of climates
  • Moisture Barrier – The use of a coating to create an impervious surface
  • Reflective Crack Management – The stress reduction from a geosynthetic while the system is in a state of constant deformation or load
  • Rehealing – Adhering two different surfaces or materials using an adhesive substrate

TenCate Mirafi® MPG (PGM-G) and MPG4 (PGM-G4)

TenCate Mirafi® MPG (PGM-G) and MPG4 (PGM-G4) are glass filament reinforced paving composites comprised of fiberglass filament yarn incorporated into a nonwoven polypropylene paving fabric. This composite or reinforced paving fabric combines the excellent reinforcing properties of glass filaments with optimum liquid asphalt retention capacity of a mechanically bonded AASHTO nonwoven paving fabric.

TenCate Mirafi® MPG (PGM-G) and MPG4 (PGM-G4) are the solution for pavement engineers. Asphalt reinforcement by high-modulus glass filaments, combined with the sealing and uniform bonding effect of the nonwoven geotextile, provides effective maintenance and prolongs the working life of road structure.

Highlights

  • Reinforcement – High load-properties at low strain ( <3%) appropriate for heavy loaded pavements
  • Cost Effectiveness – Suitable for full width overlay, local patch and joint repair
  • Sealing – Rain and oxygen cannot penetrate into the road structure
  • Longevity – maintenance intervals are considerably extended
  • Stress Relief – Retards crack propagation from the old surface to the new overlay
  • Adhesive Bonding – Provides uniform bonding between old and new asphalt layers
  • Installation – Easily included in asphalt resurfacing projects
  • Recycling – Can be milled with conventional milling machines
  • Resistance – Chemically resistant to road salt
  • Reinforcement – The synergistic improvement of a total system’s strength created by the introduction of a reinforcing geosynthetic (that is good in tension) into a soil and/or agreggate system (that is good in compression, but poor in tension).
  • Reflective Crack Management – The stress reduction from a geosynthetic while the system is in a state of constant deformation or load.
  • Moisture Barrier – The use of a coating to create an impervious surface.
  • Rehealing – Adhering two different surfaces or materials using an adhesive substrate.
